Keen eyes may have noticed all of the scribbles over the wallboard in the previous post. For Katharine and Lukas, it was just a big canvas. All Katharine needed was some scaffolding and a pencil cup to make it complete. High above the Lukas scribble zone she drew some of her trademark princesses; note the hair that goes on forever and pointed jeweled crowns.

Starting work on the new room
Dad is here visiting the new baby through Monday and helping us out with adding a wall to the loft so that we can convert it into a room for the boys.
The kids pitched in with their hammers and then gave him some lap time after dinner. Our wall had a much less pleasant day, but we will get it patched up and painted again soon.

blog news
I changed the settings to allow anyone to post comments rather than just registered visitors, so if you tried to post a comment before and were denied you can try it again.
I have also added an e-mail subscription feature to the blog. Look for it on top of the right side column, enter your e-mail address, reply to confirmation,, and then you should get e-mail updates whenever we update.

Outtakes from our "birth announcement" photo session
Here are some outtakes from today’s photo shoot for our birth announcement card. Katharine is all smiles, Lukas was continuously horsing around, and this is as about awake as Lennon got for the whole session. Too bad the light is so bad at midnight, because he would have been all bright eyed by then.

In my arms
Holding Lennon at the hospital as Katharine stroked his hair, waiting to get discharged.
It took us about three hours to get out of there, because we needed to secure a light bed for him to use as a precautionary measure because his bilirubin levels are a little high. He is expected to be in the clear by Sunday.

Lennon Noah Doescher
Lennon was born at 5:40 PM and was 8 pounds, 13 ounces and 21 inches long.
Our aplogies to those who participated in our name quiz yesterday, because his middle name changed again overnight.
For those who are wondering, the meaning of his first name is "Dear One". The origin is Celtic/Gaelic. It is a rare name, but it recently entered the charts on the Scotland Top 100 at #88 (woohoo!).

And the baby’s name is,,
Tomorrow our new baby boy will arrive (check back for pictures and updates). After a long summer of baby name books, internet searches, vetoes, compromises and “maybes” we finally came up with a name at the 11th hour.
