Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

Do you ever wonder what is happening on the other end of the phone line when you call the family?

Heart-nosed bunny

Katharine's art project from yesterday.
At first I looked at the sketch and thought to myself, wow- that looks pretty sophisticated. Then I noticed the heart nose and was reminded that yep- that is a six year old girl who drew it.
Sadly, the play dough sculpture did not survive the night.
RIP: heart-nosed bunny.

Disney on Ice

On Sunday, the 22nd, Lukas, Katharine and I went to see Disney on Ice with our friends Gwen and Trinity, their parents Chris and Julie, their cousins Hayden and Olivia, Grandma Donna and Granny (who we all know and love). The kids were all really excited and loved it all. Even though Lukas insisted he "hated" the show, he did not move his eyes from the ice rink and was rather annoyed when I tried to take pictures. I gave up.

Following are fish head pictures. They kids were promised cotton candy, which comes with Flounder hats. Lukas loved the idea of cotton candy, but did not want to eat it out of fear it could be sticky. So he just stuck with the hat.

Granny

Katharine and Trinity ALWAYS enjoy cotton candy!!!!

Love that face!

Keira stats

Keira had her 6 month well-baby check up yesterday. As usual, our visit to Dr. Gothard entertained the entire office. I am just so glad that they actually like us there! Keira is doing very well and here are her stats: She weighs 17.02 ounds which puts her in the 72nd percentile and she is 27.25 inches long which means she is in the 93 percentile for height. She got three shots which make her a somewhat crabby baby today, but she'll sleep it off.

This is a picture of Lukas asleep on the floor. He fell asleep during history, it was not that boring, after all, we are learning about the birth of our country. But we had a late night at church yesterday and he needs to catch up on sleep a little.

Keira is 6 months old!

September 22nd, 2008

Keira, 6 months old.

Wow, I can hardly believe that my little baby girl is already 6 months old. Keira can now roll wherever she wants to go, sit up unassisted more and more, likes to chew on books, plays with toys, doesn't stay on her play mat for too long, likes her excersaucer, is learning to like solid foods, is very vocal (I bet she knows she has to, with 3 older siblings), likes to laugh out loud when Lukas entertains her, knows her name, knows all her family members voices very well, likes to be held, is very busy and doesn't seem to stop moving, flashes huge smiles at anybody who will talk to her or look at her, can get quite mad, stopped sleeping through the night, likes to sit up in the stroller, likes being outside on beautiful Texas Spring days, likes to take baths, and especially snatch the washcloth out of my hands to suck on and play with, is very curious about the world around her. She is precious and loved by everyone and so far still mostly ignored by the cats, although she has has gotten a good hold of Marmalade's fur a few times already.

Flashback: March 21, 2007

This flashback shows a 15 month old Lukas hanging out with Marmalade. Of all the kids, I think that he is the biggest cat lover. After our recent Christmas trip, I asked him which house he liked staying at more- Grandma's or Oma's? He answered "Grandma, because she has cats!".

Playdate and a visit to the zoo

Next time we will visit the zoo on a less crowded day.

"March of the Penguins"

Still sleeping, or should I say sleeping again.?

"Aff, aff!"

Sleeping Keira. The girl was up almost all of last night.

Lunch Break! It's so much nicer to eat outside!

Lennon watching the Gharial, a kind of alligator.

So today we went to the zoo, which was a zoo! Erik took the day off and we had a wonderful time. The kids did so good, considering it was the last day of Spring Break and the zoo was packed. Navigating a wagon and a stroller was not always easy, but doable. The kids saw their favorite animals: lions, they even had 3 lion cubs, elephants, the stinky rhinoceros, giraffes, crocodiles, snakes and birds and the gorillas. We didn't get to see the tigers as there were way TOO many people hanging out there. We enjoyed lunch, animals that are native to TX and perfect weather. The kids did awesome. None of them cried, threw temper tantrums or complained about anything. You go Doescher brood! Lennon was a riot, pointing at all the animals and crying out "aff, aff" when we saw the giraffes and roaring when he saw the gorillas. He also tried to figure out if he could get any closer than he already was. When we left the zoo, some of the zoo keepers where hanging out at the entrance and let some penguins and a boa constictor named Rosie loose.

Charlotte came over and spend Tuesday and some of Wednesday with us. The two beauties were quite adorable, singing songs outside and posing for the camera. Erik really needs to put up the video that I took of them.

Lennon is 18 months

Lennon officially turned 18 months yesterday.  He likes
to play lego, play with connecting cubes, wrestle Lukas, give Keira kisses; he sleeps in his own big boy bed ( has been for the last 4 weeks), pretty much dropped his naps, but when he does sleep, he can sleep almost anywhere, he loves his soy vanilla milk and asks for milk about 100 times a day, says 'yuck' when Keira gets cereal, still likes to ask for 'more', runs more than he walks, likes to say and watch "Doo Doo" (this translates into Scooby Doo), still likes to roar or 'Tarzan', likes to turn the play/school room upside down with Lukas. He loves being outsides and putting on his 'boos' or shoes.
He is a joy and a lot of work, but we do love, love, love that kid!

Lennon's Path of Distruction

Not really any comment needed.  We can now talk about "Lennonados" as part of the weather.
