Arboretum Snapshots

There was an art festival at the Arboretum this weekend - and more importantly sunshine in the sky (finally!) - so we went and had a visit this morning.

I snapped some random pictures along the way...

These statues were part of the art show.

This local artist paints with bees wax, and gave us a demo.

Despite the bright sun, a weeks worth of rain still soaked up the ground.

Luckily, there were some fountains to wash the feet off at along the way.

Walking and observing in the gardens..

Iria gave an impromptu fractions lesson as she divvied out the bagels at the fish pond.

The kids then fed some bits to the fish, who nibbled on some fingers as well.

Lennon is always eager to take photographs, and he used my camera to take this one:

Lukas shot this rare picture of Iria and I together :)

We spent about 90 minutes there until we started to get tired and head back to the car.

One last photo form Lennon, taken of a caterpillar that Lukas found and rescued from the sidewalk.

And yes, I cut his fingernails when we got home..

Thanks again to the Martels for the cool Christmas gift of a family membership to the Arboretum :)

Juicing

The boys helped nah fresh juice today. The ingredients were pink grapefruit, red beets, apples, carrots and bok choy. They did a good job washing, a little bit of cutting, lots of putting everything in the juicer and bottling the healthy goodness!

Gate Crasher

Another weekend of soccer game cancellations equals another week of soaking rain here in North Texas.

A big thunderstorm blew through last night, tipping a tree down in our backyard.

I called the city of McKinney at 9 AM on a Sunday morning and they actually had a crew out here by lunch.

Go go local government!

The kids had fun in their "tree house" for the brief time that it lasted.

As a science experiment we counted the rings in the trunk and determined that the tree was 46 years old, the same age as me!

Everything is now cleared up.

I don't think that McKinney is going to fix my fence, so that one will be up to us.

Together Again

Maya visited Texas this week during her Spring Break, and got to hang out with Katharine for a few days (and nights).

They picked up right where they had left off, and had lots of fun together.

Until next time!

Lunch Hour

Once a week I will usually grab a bowl of Pho at a local Vietnamese restaurant and read my Kindle during lunch.

They know me when I walk in, so my food is in front of me within a few minutes and I can get in and out of there at my leisure.

The perfect place to eat, in my opinion :)

Biker Gang

Here are the kids, fresh off a bicycle Quidditch match.

PK

Lennon kicked his first penalty kick today.

He has become the go-to guy for all of the free kicks and corner kicks on his team, and today was his first opportunity to drill one in from the spot.

Starpower Competition

Katharine went to her first competition this season. Both PACE teams from TBT did very well. Four first places in their categories, one 6th overall, one 8th overall, a 10th overall and a first overall in their respective divisions! Job well done with a lot less stress, but lots of fun!

The PACE junior team. Katharine just joined this team due to other dancers' injuries. Her teachers' thought she was the best choice and she had no problems learning two new dances in ten days!

Katharine's teen team. They performed their Irish Suite and contemporary dance beautifully!

Prim and proper and goofballs!

Sick and Sleepy

Kassidy was running a little bit of a temperature today.

She has gotten a little bit better since this morning, so hopefully she is on the mend!

Daddy/Daughter Lunch

I attended the Daddy/Daughter lunch at Keira's school this week, and we sat at the table with her friend Emma (and her Dad).

The lunch was cleverly scheduled at the same time that their book fair was going on, so she scored a lunch with Daddy and a new book as well.

In semi-related news, Keira has been given a clean bill of speech health by the school, and will not have to attend speech therapy anymore next year. She has been working really hard on that, and has had great results.

Here are a few pics from church this morning.

Easter Preparations

Today we had a lot of fun with the following activities:

Baking

Flying plastic bag kites and pretending they are dogs.

Dyed eggs.

I also managed to go to Good Friday service with Katharine. So glad there was childcare because the long periods of silence between readings from the Gospel of Mark would have been too much for the younger ones.
