Playing on Labor Day

We got all got around to having a bit of fun today. Iria went to a book store with Kara, I worked on some art, Katharine had a play date with Charlotte, the boys scribbled, and Keira smeared food all over her face. Good times- Doescher style!

I hit the aged photo filter in Lightroom for the standing Katharine and Charlotte shot. The blues in the shadows of the original picture looked really bad, and besides, a fancy looking portrait is kind of fitting for those two.

Laboring on Labor Day

We had a fun time at Nolan’s birthday party over at the Martel’s last night (I’ll link to pictures if Meagan does a birthday post), but we got home by 8:30 because it was a school night. Yep… a school night- homeschooling gives us the flexibility to make up days as we please.

I was home today, and I must say hats off to Iria and Katharine for continuing to progress and excel within their program. These serene pictures were taken by Iria last week, but this morning the 1, 2, and 3 ½ year olds were whiny and temperamental. I often joke with Iria that Katharine will develop concentration powers of steel if she can continue to progress through all that commotion, and for Iria to both teach and mother four children at once warrants some kind of award that they haven’t thought to make up yet.

Labor day indeed.

Saturday recess

Our Sunday school class got together for a pool party yesterday. At one point someone counted 21 kids, but there are 10 between just the Gumm's and ourselves- so I bet there were more. And yeah, there were some adults there as well (but they are not as fun to take pictures of).

Catnip

I got my favorite lens (the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4) back from the Nikon Service Center today. It broke at the beginning of July, but it took me a while to finally get around to sending it in for repairs. Repairs were free, as it was still under warranty. Go Nikon!
