Day on the Go

We had a pretty busy day today: We started out with Katharine's solo practice at dance, then we headed out to Pilot Point,TX to the Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch for homeschool day. We had a picnic lunch there, fed animals, petted animals, went on a tram ride,...After that we headed to the mall to buy a baseball bat for Lennon, a practice T, new baseball pants, and sandals for me. We then headed back to dance for a short break, are now at soccer practice from where we are heading back to pick up Katharine from dance. I might just order pizza for dinner tonight.

Watching a Joey being bottle fed was a highlight for the kids.


Another favorite animal was the capuchin monkey.

Movie Night

Jakob got to pick the movie on Friday night (the latest "Ice Age" flick), since it was his last night here.

Fossil Rim

Iria took the kids to the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center on Friday, after a week of unseasonably cold and wet weather here in Texas (am I actually complaining about that?).

This is a great activity for the kids, as they get to drive through the park in safari mode and feed the animals that come up to the windows. 

Iria was a little bit worried about how Kassidy would react, but she was a true explorer with map in hand.

Back to Germany

Jakob flew back to Germany on Saturday after a two week stay.

We had a lot of fun, and he might have even gotten a little bit American'ized in the end (we were tossing the football up until the time he left).

The FC Dallas soccer match, all of the Dallas area field trips with Iria and the kids, and the new Lego video game were some highlights.  

On my end, I got a small preview of our boy's appetites in a few years (yikes)...

He got along really well with his cousins, but I imagine that he is probably happy to be going back to having just one kid around him all of the time rather than five :)

Fossil Rim Petting Zoo

I took the kids down to Fossil Rim today. At the half point of the drive we had a lunch break followed by petting and cleaning goats, some of which were bigger than the kids!
We also visited the gift store. The kids enjoyed looking at stuff and no one asked to get anything.












This is Einstein the emu.


Kassidy and Keira soon got over their fear of the goats and enjoyed petting as well as brushing them.


Katharine is almost as tall as an emu.
