Time to Retire

It is time to retire Katharine's first pair of pointe shoes and get busy sewing elastic and ribbons on the new pair before Wednesday next week!

Making Paper Mâché Globe Models

The kids all joined Katharine for one of her geography projects this week: making a paper mâché model of the globe. Because one is not enough, 4 had to be made.

Katharine loves to make maps, so of course her globe looks awesome. All she needs to add are some mountains, the international dateline, the equator, prime meridian and the longitude and latitude lines.

Snow Today, (probably) Gone Tomorrow

Ok, I think this is finally it- the last snowfall. 

It was a great one though, we got the morning off and had a few inches of snow to play around in, 

And as this is Texas, it will all be melted away by the end of the week!

Scholarship Announcement

Katharine went to the audition for the Texas Ballet Theater Senior Summer Intensive. She was a spot guaranteed because she is an enrolled student. Younger students type ills don't get a scholarship, so Katharine went to the audition for the experience.
Well, this morning I get an email from TBT in Ft. Worth offering her a partial scholarship to the 5 week program!

Kassidy

Kassidy started preschool this past Wednesday. Two days later than planned due to ice.
The teachers here take a lot of pictures and share them with the parents, which is s nice way of seeing what the kids are doing at school. Here is a picture of Kassidy:

Sheer Bliss

I love watching the joy on the kids faces as they experience the tiniest bit of snow! It fills my heart to the fullest!

All Suited Up

I am so glad I have not given their snow pants from two winters ago away yet! At 25 degrees outside they keep them warm!

Snow

While Kassidy and Keira were at school yesterday, the boys got to build a snowman. 

Katharine didn't go out for too long- it was too cold for her and she preferred writing about Amerigo Vespucci instead.

First Day of School

Kassidy started attending preschool today.

People of the Desert

This week's topic are the Native American's of the Southwest.

Yesterday we memorized a Pueblo poem. We made an illustration with it, too.

Today, we drew a map of the 4-Corner-States and some symbols.

We still have modeling, more writing, drawing and painting ahead of us this week.

Keira and Kassidy are home from school due to inclement weather.

Morning Lent Reading

I'm home this morning because of the ice, and was able to catch the family's daily Lent reading.

Ice Day

Last week I boasted that we had gotten through the winter with no ice or snow... and today I am eating those words.
