Moving Right Along

The truck is packed and we are cleared for closing on July 1st.

Now we just have to sell/trash/give away a house full of furniture and stuff that we didn't bring with us.

In one week.

It never ends..

 

Keira and Jane

One of the things that Keira (and our family) will miss most about Texas is Jane, one of those special friends that don't come around too often. Our kids have been on the receiving end of many Texas exits of dear friends (Maya, the Frousins, Fox), and it feels just as bad moving on as it does staying behind. 

But those two are tech savvy young preteens, so I'm not counting their friendship out just yet.

These are from Senior Day at church, which is as close as our homeschooler is going to get.

We are so proud of Katharine, and she will now be going off to Cal Arts in California to continue doing amazing and great things.

 

 

Final Bow

Katharine performed in her final recital at the end of last month.

She has done such an amazing job over the years, and we will really miss seeing her dance and perform.

 But as the curtain drops on one journey, it opens up for another.

 

Soccer Finale

Lennon played his final soccer game last week, and in typical fashion showed a lot of flourish and propensity for injury. He had a nice shot on goal and then strained his thigh.

They played the game in the rain and mud, so it is definitely one that we will never forget.

Next up, golf and snowboarding. 

Or maybe just golf- because there is that whole injury thing with him..

Closing Time

 We closed on the new house in Walpole yesterday. 

My Dad got to show off his great penmanship and acted as our proxy, and I think we will owe him a nice meal after we arrive.

Next up, sell the house in Texas and get out of here.

Phase 2

This was our "phase 2" list for the move, where we finished packing and touching up around the house. Nobody in the family will be particularly sentimental about this, but maybe in 10 years we can look back and have a laugh :)

 This week we bring in the professional cleaners and handymen.

Next week we put it on the market.

Here are just a few of my roses. I have a total of 10 rosebushes. Will need to take clippings with me when we move and try to propagae them. 

Sorting Legos

 The last of the Legos have been dumped on the boy's floor as we head down the home cleaning/packing stretch.

They are organizing all of them by the number of studs, which should make future builds a little bit more easier.

 I took Katharine driving yesterday in my car. 

She got to practice driving, and I got to not drive, so win-win!

Vaccinated

 I got my second shot at the Texas Motor Speedway today, a location that I would never have imagined myself ever visiting (although I do enjoy a good game of Mario Kart).

Iria and I are both fully vaccinated now, and Katharine gets her first shot on Monday. 

Hopefully it will open up for the kids before we leave in July.

 

 

 

Youth Sunday

Katharine joined the graduating seniors in hosting Youth Sunday this week.

 If you look closely, you can see a few other Doescher kids in the background (except for Kassidy).

The girl in the pink sleeves is Samantha, who Katharine has known since she started coming to church. I still remember teaching them in Sunday school when they were both toddlers.

Iron Cat

 I wasn't sure what I was going to post about today until Iria started ironing.

Apparently, Sophie always jumps up to join her for the work (I mean, play).

Spring Scrimmaging

 Lennon and I attended our first FC Dallas game of 2021 today, a preseason scrimmage against the new MLS team from Austin. 

They tied 3-3, and then FC Dallas won the game on penalty kicks .

Opening night is a week from Saturday, and our last game ever will be their annual July 4th match. 

Lennon and I won't miss much in Texas, but going to FC Dallas games is one of the exceptions.
