Partying on a Saturday Morning...

We had Lukas's birthday party on Saturday over at church. We didn't have the usual 70 degree weather, but there was a lot of fun to be had inside this time around.

At home, knee deep in presents. Thanks for coming, everyone!

Lukas turned 4 years old today. Happy Birthday, Lukas!

Lukas provides more than enough pictures with big smiles, but he can also grab you with those big eyes.

Lets see if I can knock out a quick Lukas fact sheet:

1. He loves books, movies, toys and everything else about pirates

2. Some of his favorite characters are villains: Captain Hook, Darth Vader, Venom

3. Batman, Spiderman, Master Yoda and Peter Pan are some of his favorite heroes.

4. He can be really shy around new people, and really rambunctious around friends and family

5. He loves green vegetables

6. He also loves McDonalds (but only gets it once a month)

7. He takes dance classes and sings in the choir

8. He still thinks of himself as "just a little guy"

9. Out of all our kids, he loves the cats the most

10. His favorite book is currently "You can do anything, Daddy"

11. He still prefers to eat with his hands

12. He likes to drink a cup of chocolate milk every night before bed

13. His best friends are Aiden and Gwen

For the record, they were also spitting into each other's ears and thinking it was a riot.

Quick Changes

The kids love to dress up and accessorize, and they put on a quite a show over the course of a few hours on Saturday afternoon.

Lennon loves hats. The 'Peter Pan' and 'Mary Poppins' hat are his current favorites. The pumpkin hat didn't really work out...

Keira loves dressing up, and especially loves the silkies. Quite often she will walk into a room with one of them covering over her head. If you hand her anything that looks like clothes, she will immediately try to drape it over her head...

Lukas was sporting some new slippers this weekend, and generally likes to mix and match his costumes to come up with some new warrior look.

Katharine constructed this dress out of some picnic table cloth (?), and was also supporting some new accessories- a fuzzy pair of ear muffs. Katharine will be getting a sewing machine this Christmas. We can't wait to see what she dreams up.

All in all, a very fun afternoon...

until they moved on from dress-up to swordplay.

Lift off!

We took Katharine's training wheels off last Spring, but didn't bike all summer. Now that the weather has cooled down, we have gone out a few times to practice on two wheels.

Today she finally took flight without me helping. I'm going to need to buy a bike soon to start keeping up with her.

Room Rules

The kids have been going through a Playmobile phase again, and all of those toys happen to be in Katharine's room. There have been a number of instances where the boys have gone in and completely trashed her room, which I am guessing is what prompted her to write up this set of rules. Lukas must have really been in the dog house that day, but all of the kids (including Katharine) can be equally as messy.

Snow!

This morning I was awakened by screams of joy as we experienced our first snowfall of the season. The children hastily donned their winter garb and rushed outside before it stopped and melted away (you gotta be fast in Texas).

Keira didn't have any mittens, so hopefully this experience doesn't scar her for life.

Decorating the Tree

Iria was coaxed into putting the Christmas tree up a little bit early this year, but we all agree that it ended up being a great idea.
