Playing games to wind down from a busy day of climbing and exploring. Tomorrow we take a day-trip to Denver. After 12 hours getting here, an 80 minute trek up the road feels like nothing :)

Colorado Springs

We just arrived at the cabin, and are unpacking and getting settled in for the week. It is really beautiful up here, and we are looking forward to having a lot of fun (the kids are already running around and playing hide and seek).






BTW- the official "are we there yet?" count was 11, for those of you who might have started office pools.

Thanks a lot to our friends for supplying the advice and supplies that helped the trip go so smoothly!

Best Breakfast

This morning we had breakfast at the Best Western in Clayton, NM. It is a nice hotel, adorned with SouthWest Indian decor for decoration (and, of course, for sale).

We got around 2/3 of the drive completed last night, rolling along terrain that only got more isolated, flat and dark as we progressed.

We should be in Colorado Springs by lunch time!

Welcome to... Iowa Park?

Our first stop was some obscure town on the road to Amarillo, where we stretched our legs and chased (more like... got chased by...) ducks and geese.

Road Trip!

This weekend we take to the road and travel to Colorado Springs for a week. That is about 12 hours each way by car, but it should definitely be worth it.

I'll try and keep track of how may "are we almost there?" questions we get!

'Tis the Season

We stopped by Market Street during our bike ride today. Lukas insisted on a pumpkin picture, so let the seasonal photo-ops begin!

Happy birthday, Keira!

Keira turned 2 today.

We had a small birthday celebration at home...

but every since she tried touching the candle at last Saturday's birthday dinner she has been a little afraid of fire.

But it was all worth it for the cupcake.

And the new baby doll.

Keira facts:

She will try just about any kind of food, and one of her favorites are bananas.

She has just started playing with baby dolls, and loves to push them around in a stroller.

She can power up an iPad, navigate to her favorite books and games, and then launch the apps.

Her nicknames consist of many variations of the word "cute".

She LOVES to go on bike rides and wear her helmet.

She is very aggressive, and will push her big brothers off of their spots on the couch to make room for herself.

Along those lines, she can throw quite a fit (hard to believe, huh?).

She loves anything that has to do with "Toy Story 3".

She sleeps with a makeshift pacifier, which used to be a nipple from one of her old baby bottles (you can always hear her coming when she sucks air through that thing).

Her favorite book is currently "Brown Bear, Brown Bear".

She likes to pick out her own clothes, and loves trying on shoes.

She loves Natasha and Mary at church.

She has a friend named Violet.

And of all our kids, she is the only one who took afternoon naps past the age of 18 months (and she is still going strong).
