Eight is Enough

One weekend, eight soccer events. Enough already :)

Andromeda 05 Blue Scrimmage

Saturday, 8:15 AM

Lukas's primary team is 05 Blue. They are newly formed, and have a lot of kids that haven't played Academy soccer before (including Lukas). They played their first scrimmage this weekend and had a rough time, but Lukas played well and was able to take some positives from it.

The boys share the same coach, so Mert is letting Lennon sit on the bench and observe the play of the older boys during the games. Lennon will even get a few minutes in here and there, and it is cool to see the boys on the field at the same time.

Andromeda 07 Indoor game versus Liverpool

Saturday, 10:30 AM

After the scrimmage we rushed over to the indoor facility in Allen. Lennon plays "up" with 07, meaning that all of the kids on this team are about a year older than him. He got a goal and an assist in their 9-5 victory. The goal was from a left footed blast at a tight angle. Lennon has been working really hard with his left foot so that he has more ball striking options in play.

This was the last indoor full field game for the summer. Lennon didn't mind, as he would much rather play outdoor.

Backyard soccer games

Saturday, 5:00 PM

The kids invented a game where they take turns as goalie and the other takes shots and sees how many tries it takes to score four times.

FC Dallas vs. Real Salt Lake

Saturday, 8:00 PM

Lennon, Keira and I attended an FC Dallas game that evening. It is only a ten minute drive, and we can look up and see the new Gearbox offices from our seats. We were happy for the team when they won, even though we got crushed earlier by one of their junior teams in the scrimmage.

Andromeda 06 vs. FC Dallas

Sunday, 12:15 PM

Lukas also plays for Mert's 06 team. They are close to his age and it is a good way for him to get some extra touches and experience. He had a great clearance today (something that he has been working on with Mert) but once again FC Dallas had Andromeda's number and won 6-2.

Lennon does not play with this group, and was a spectator when he wasn't off kicking and juggling balls.

Andromeda 07 vs. Saints

Sunday, 2:30 PM

Lennon is playing with another Andromeda 07 team this Fall and they had their first outdoor game today. They won 10-0, with Lennon providing another goal and assist plus a few great shots that just missed. This team is a mix of great players from a few different teams, and should be a lot of fun to watch this year.

Andromeda 08 Red vs. Dallas Texans

Sunday, 4:00 PM

Andromeda 08 Red is Lennon's primary team, which has been winning all of those tournaments this Spring and Summer. They won their first game of the season 4-1, with Lennon providing two goals and an assist. The photo shows him winding up to strike his first goal, a blast from across the field that found the top corner of the net and silenced the other team's parents :)

Andromeda 07 vs. Flash (indoor 4x4)

Sunday, 5:30 PM

We had to race from the Dallas soccer complex back to Allen for the 4x4 team's final game of the season. 4x4 soccer is played on a small field and gives the players a lot of touches and shots, and is Lennon's favorite way to play indoors. Lennon scored a bunch of goals and the team won around 20-3... but it is hard to keep count in these games. All of their competition is against rec teams, so even though a number of the kids on this team are beginners the score always ends up the same every week.

All done.

Practice starts up again tomorrow!
