Brothers

The boys will occasionally get on each other's nerves, but for the most part they have a really great relationship. I should do a whole series of pictures one day, because I love watching them together.

Ed Emberley practically taught me how to draw when I was kid, so it is neat to see Katharine experimenting with his technique- although I don't think that the Racoon pose is from any of the books...

Kassidy has started building with Legos as of late. 

Every creation is usually followed by a big "Ta-Da!"

Park, Pond, and Play

The temperature plummeted into the 60's this weekend, but we braved the weather and took a bike ride to a favorite spot nearby.

First we hunted for sticks in a small wooded area, then we threw them all into a pond, and then went over and had some fun in the playground. Lukas's stick ended up being covered with ants, but amazingly he only got bit once despite carrying it around for five minutes. 

Gotta start watching out for those bugs again..

Kassidy was napping when we left, so I took her for a quick bike ride after we got back. She loves going outside, and I couldn't resist taking a picture of her whale spout sticking through her helmet after I strapped it on :)

Texas Discovery Gardens

The kids and I went to the Texas Discovery Gardens yesterday. Thank you Kara, for the coupon. We had a lot of fun exploring. I had printed out a scavenger hunt clue sheet that the website provides. We found lots of fun things, a wishing well full of roses instead of water, rosemary, seed pods from the sweet gum tree, lamb's ear, a cool sculpture called "The Gossip", a garden named after a famous play write and much more. As always, I was fascinated by the colorful vegetation and had a hard time restraining myself taking gazillions of plant pictures. I have not posted any here, but I will do that on my own blog.

The Gossip

The highlight for the kids was going inside the butterfly house. They could hardly contain their joy over all the butterflies they saw. We got there in time for the daily release of hatched butterflies.

Katharine could pretty much answer all the questions the etymologist had. Go Katharine.

Face Painting

Katharine likes face painting. She even got Kassidy to sit still long enough to get a cute little cat's face on her.

Lukas was the only one without. He waited until parent's night out. He now is asleep on the couch with a red lightning bolt (aka Harry Potter scar) on his forehead.

Sick Lennon

Lennon has been running a fever off and on over the past few days. The doctor checked him out on Saturday, and we will follow up on Tuesday. 

He has taken up the habit of wedging his milk between his legs before he dozes off for a nap (the fact that he is taking a nap and not finishing off his milk in 10 seconds is another indication that he is not well). 

Despite all of that, there are signs that he is starting to get better. We are looking forward to having our old Lennon running around and saying (non fever-induced) weird things again soon.
