And More Recital 2014 Photos

This was a big year for Katharine. She was onstage 40 times at recital and performed like a pro! Her energy never went down, she had the right mood for each dance, didn't let anything frazzle her! Watching her dance makes my heart jump and has brought many tears to my eyes. I am so proud of the wonderfully fierce and mighty girl she is!

Below is a picture of Katharine with one of her best friends from dance: Emma. They are in their opening pose for one of their tap numbers to Beyonce's song "Love on Top."

Below she is with Carley in "Fine Shrine", an intense jazz number.

With Vivi in "one Rock'n Roll Too a Many" from "Starlight Express". The girls danced three different versions of that dance!

Katharine has been taking modern dance for the first time this past year and really enjoyed it. This dance is called "Jai Ho", which is from "Slumdog Millionaire" soundtrack.

Summer Nights

The irony of my birthday being on the first day of summer has never been lost on me, considering that I hate summer. But to put s positive spin on it- at least I am starting to count down the days until Fall/Winter.

The one thing I do like about summer are the evenings when we go out in front and play and ride bikes.

Happy Birthday to Erik

Today I completed my 46th trip around the sun.

This morning I drove Katharine to dance, and then I attended Lennon's baseball game. After lunch I watched the Germany vs. Ghana World Cup game and then we went out for pizza and desert. I got a bunch of clothes for birthday presents (which I would have hated when I was young but appreciate now) and tonight I'm not quite sure what I'll be up to yet.

I've stopped losing weight, but I'm maintaining myself at around 170 (down from over 200 last year)

Soccer has become my favorite sport (FC Dallas, Barcelona, Team USA, Brazil, Germany).

I played another season of adult soccer this Spring, and will play again in the Fall (and nope, I'm not good).

I've started playing hacky sack during breaks at work.

I'm not much of a car person, and am bad at navigating and parking.

Parenting pet peeve: kids stalling at bedtime

Favorite snack: Spicy chips or berries

Favorite foods: anything grilled

Goals for the year: Learn some new art skills and buy a new house

Favorite gadget: my indispensable iPad mini

I still don't like owning cats very much..

Recital 2014

Recital Cameos

The girls (Kathrine, Iria, Kassidy and Keira) just finished off a big recital weekend, performing in over 50 dances!

Here we are arriving fort he afternoon dances. I thought the two little girls looked so grown up with their bags on their shoulders heading into "work".

By the end of the day they were getting pretty tired... until the show started and then Kassidy was dancing in the aisles.

And here are all the girls (and one rascal) at the end of the day.

A Bicycle Built for Three

Keira started riding a two-wheeler this week, and took her two cheetahs out for a spin.

It only took her a few tries to start riding, which can probably be attributed to the pedal'less glider bike that she zipped around on for the past two years.
