Faceless

Katharine did a handful of drawings last week of people without a face.

Katharine has no problem drawing faces (see below), but the reason that she did this was so that the viewer could make up the face for the person in their own mind.

She's starting to think like an artist as well :)

A recent face by Katharine:

After a little bit of shopping, of course.

Map Of...

Katharine drew this cool map the other day.

The name is apparently up to the viewer (in 9 letters or less).

Easter Interludes

We took a group shot at church and then a few more pictures in the front yard before leaving to Grandma Donna's house for Easter lunch and egg hunting.

It was a very fun day, but now I'm tired and want to go to bed.

Anatomy of an Easter Picture

Happy Easter, everyone.

This year's Easter picture looks pleasant enough, but it is never easy getting to that result with young kids.

We took the picture at the Dallas Zoo on a beautiful Spring day, and got to the bench just in time before any fatigue and grumpiness began to set in. With five moving parts, you have to snap a lot of pictures to ensure that you get one with enough of them smiling. I kept my finger pressed down on the shutter and probably shot around 50+ pictures... with most of them coming out like this:

There is rarely a "perfect" picture, and I consider myself lucky to get at least 4 put of 5 of the kids looking decent. Here is the one we picked:

Everybody was looking pretty good except for Lukas. His latest haircut came a day too late, and he's straining to see through all of the strands. Luckily I caught that when reviewing the film, and we went back for a quick pickup shot where I sat him by himself on the same spot and parted his hair:

At home I was able to cut him out of this picture in Photoshop and paste him into the group pose. After a little bit of tuning in Lightroom (another photo editing program by Adobe) the Easter picture was good to go!

Spring Training

Lukas had his first t-ball practice today. With all of our kids in dance we have side-stepped the whole youth sports scene up until now, but we all had a lot of fun.

Now I just have to remember to bring water for him the next time and order the left handed baseball mitt...

Fauxhawks and Real Hugs

But whatever the hair style that she is sporting, Kassidy always gives Lennon a big hug around his head whenever she sees him.

A Tale of Two Tangled's

Keira and Katharine's Tangled dolls started out looking very much the same...

Earth Day at Anthropology

After dance and school, we went down to Anthropology at the Northpark Mall to celebrate Earth Day. The kids got to plant a flower, make pin wheels and have a snack.

On the way back to the car, they inspected the dummies at Nordstrom.
