On December 20th we took off for a long weekend in Munich with Anita and her family. We stayed through Monday the 23rd and loved every minute of it!
We had a few hours to spare before Anita and family arrived at our very nice Gasthof, so we decided to venture out without our tourguides for a little bit. We hopped on the subway and went into Munich. Tkaing public transportation is something our Texans are not used to, but enjoyed a lot!
The Neues Rathaus at Marienplatz in Munich. We walked through the Christmasmarket which is very nice. Munich has quite a few Christmas Markets to choose from, as most of the city's quarters have their own markets, the most famous one being the one at Marienplatz.
Lots of lace, Nutcrackers and Christmas pyramids.
We stayed at Gasthof Neuwirt, a very nice B&B in Garching, about 20 minutes outside downtown Munich. It is owned by my brother in law's relatives, so staying there had some extra benefits, such as free ice cream, coffee and pretzels, making new friends and getting unexpected Christmas presents for the kids! We would definitely stay there again! We felt at home.
